How to raise a concern

What to do if you're worried about a child or young person at the club.

Everyone at Winterbourne has a part to play in keeping children safe. If something worries you, however small, please say so.

If a child is in immediate danger

Call 999. Then tell the Club Safeguarding Officer.

If you're worried about a child

  • Talk to the Club Safeguarding Officer, whose name and contact details are at the foot of every page on this website.
  • If you can't reach them, or your concern is about them, contact the ECB's safeguarding team through the ECB's safeguarding pages.
  • You can also talk to the NSPCC helpline on 0808 800 5000, or visit nspcc.org.uk.

If a child tells you something

  • Listen, and stay calm.
  • Don't promise to keep it secret. Explain that you may need to tell someone who can help.
  • Write down what they said, in their words, as soon as you can, with the date and time.
  • Tell the Club Safeguarding Officer the same day.

For young people

If anything about cricket worries you, tell an adult you trust, or the Club Safeguarding Officer. You can talk to Childline free, any time, on 0800 1111.
